1979 NFL Playoffs

The Houston Oilers beat the Denver Broncos 13-7 in the AFC wild card game. The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Chicago Bears 27-17 in the NFC wild card game.

In the AFC divisional round, the Houston Oilers upset the San Diego Chargers 17-14 and the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Miami Dolphins 34-14 to advance to the AFC Championship Game.

In the NFC divisional round, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-17 and the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Dallas Cowboys 21-19.

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Houston Oilers 27-13 to win the AFC title. The Los Angeles Rams shut out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 9-0 in the NFC Championship Game.

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Los Angeles Rams 31-19 in Super Bowl XIV.
