1982 NFL Playoffs

Due to a strike-shortened season, the 1982 playoffs featured eight teams from each conference. In the first round of the NFC, the Washington Redskins beat the Detroit Lions 31-7. The Green Bay Packers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 41-16. The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-17 and the Minnesota Vikings beat the Atlanta Falcons 30-24.

In the first round of the AFC, the Miami Dolphins beat the New England Patriots 28-13. The Los Angeles Raiders beat the Cleveland Browns 27-10. The New York Jets hammered the Cincinnati Bengals 44-17 and the San Diego Chargers beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-28.

In the second round of the NFC, the Washington Redskins beat the Minnesota Vikings 21-7 and the Dallas Cowboys beat the Green Bay Packers 37-26.

In the second round of the AFC, the New York Jets defeated the Los Angeles Raiders 17-14 and the Miami Dolphins beat the San Diego Chargers 34-13.

The Washington Redskins defeated the Dallas Cowboys 31-17 in the NFC Championship Game. The Miami Dolphins beat the New York Jets 14-0 in the AFC Championship Game.

The Washington Redskins defeated the Miami Dolphins 27-17 in Super Bowl XVII.
