1986 NFL Playoffs

The New York Jets defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35-15 in the AFC wild card game. The Washington Redskins beat the Los Angeles Rams 19-7 in the NFC wild card game.

In the AFC divisional round, the Cleveland Browns beat the New York Jets 23-20 in double overtime and the Denver Broncos defeated the New England Patriots 22-17.

In the NFC divisional round, the Washington Redskins beat the Chicago Bears 27-13 and the New York Giants trounced the San Francisco 49ers 49-3.

The Denver Broncos defeated the Cleveland Browns 23-20 in overtime to win the AFC Championship. The New York Giants shut out the Washington Redskins 17-0 in the NFC Championship Game.

The New York Giants defeated the Denver Broncos 39-20 in Super Bowl XXI.
