Commonly known as the first “Super Bowl,” a phrase coined by Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt, the official title of the contest was the “AFL-NFL World Championship Game.” It was more of a grudge match between the former leagues than it was a game for bragging rights in the NFL. Just a year after the NFL-AFL merger, the AFL Kansas City Chiefs were a considerable underdog vs. the mighty, Vince Lombardi led NFL Green Bay Packers. From the opening kick, Green Bay owned the game, led on the field by QB Bart Starr. Starr would take MVP honors throwing for 250 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. The NFL over AFL dominance was proven factual in the culmination of the first season of the unification process of the AFL and NFL. Check out the summaries for Super Bowl II
