Super Bowl VII
Miami Dolphins vs. Washington Redskins
Date: January 14, 1973 Host City: Los Angeles, CA Stadium: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum National Anthem: Andy Williams and the Little Angels of Holy Angels Church in Chicago Halftime Entertainment: Woody Herman and the Michigan Marching Band MVP: Jake Scott – Safety, Miami Dolphins Final Score: Miami-14 Washington-7
In one of the most anticipated Super Bowls in NFL history, the Miami Dolphins put up their undefeated regular season and playoff run against a Washington Redskins squad that was a favorite by a single point. At that point, the combined score of 21 points would become the lowest point total in Super Bowl history, and regardless of what the scoreboard said, the Dolphins thoroughly dominated the game, only allowing the Redskins across mid-field on one drive, which resulted in a score. Jake Scott's two interceptions, including a pick in the end zone during the 4th quarter, helped seal the game for the Dolphins, completing their perfect season under head coach Don Shula.
