In familiar territory, the Dolphins cruised to another fantastic regular season record, and a berth in their second consecutive Super Bowl. The Dolphins running game, led by power back Larry Csonka, punished the Minnesota defense over 4 quarters. Miami's defense continued their dominance that they had enjoyed over the previous two seasons, and shut out the Vikings offense until the 4^th quarter, when QB Fran Tarkenton was able to put together a 9 play drive and run for a score; however, the outcome of the game had been decided at the point. Appropriately, the MVP honor was awarded to Dolphins RB Larry Csonka, who ran for 145 yards on 31 carries.
