Super Bowl XI

Oakland Raiders vs. Minnesota Vikings

Date: January 9, 1977
Host City: Pasadena, CA
Stadium: Rose Bowl
National Anthem: Vikki Carr (singing America the Beautiful)
Halftime Entertainment: Disney - “It's a Small World” with Los Angeles Unified All-City Band
MVP: Fred Biletnikoff – Wide Receiver, Oakland Raiders
Final Score: Oakland-32 Minnesota-14

Led by coach John Madden, the Oakland Raiders would travel a few hours south to face NFC representative Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI. This would mark the Vikings 4th Super Bowl appearance to the Raiders 2nd. Neither team had enjoyed the taste of victory in the big game, thus making it the first time in four years that a team wouldn't be repeating as champion. Both teams struggled to get any points on the board in the first quarter, yet by the second, John Madden had made some fantastic adjustments to counter the Minnesota defense and the Raiders would enjoy a 16-0 halftime lead. They would go on to double their score in the second half – the Vikings second half touchdowns only serving to make the game look a little more respectable.
