Super Bowl XIII
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Dallas Cowboys
Date: January 21, 1979 Host City: Miami, FL Stadium: Miami Orange Bowl National Anthem: The Colgate Thirteen Halftime Entertainment: Bob Jani Productions - “Carnival Salute to Caribbean” MVP: Terry Bradshaw – Quarterback, Pittsburgh Steelers Final Score: Pittsburgh-35 Dallas-31
It seemed in the cards that the Steelers and Cowboys should meet once again in the Super Bowl to offer yet another classic NFL battle. The first meeting would see the Steelers win the game by 4 points, only being decided late in the 4th quarter. The second meeting in Super Bowl XIII would put more points on the board, see a QB throw for over 300 yards (a first in Super Bowl history), as well as 4 touchdown passes. Terry Bradshaw was the man of the hour, yet Roger Staubach was there to counter every score with the potent Dallas offense. The Dallas defense forced Bradshaw into multiple turnovers, yet the offense struggled to turn those turnovers into points. When the game seemed all but over, Staubach led the Cowboys down the field for a quick score, and the Special Teams unit followed that score by recovering an onside kick. The Cowboys would score again, yet after a failed onside kick, Dallas would lose again to the Steelers in a Super Bowl by a mere 4 points.
