Super Bowl XIX San Francisco 49ers vs. Miami Dolphins Date: January 20, 1985 Host City: Stanford, CA Stadium: Standford Stadium National Anthem: San Francisco Boys Chorus with the San Francisco Girls Chorus Halftime Entertainment: “World of Children's Dreams” with USAF Tops In Blue MVP: Joe Montana – Quarterback, San Francisco 49ers Final Score: San Francisco-38 Miami-16 It was made to be the battle between the leagues two best quarterbacks, and the first quarter offered promise to live up to the hype. The Dolphins jumped out to a 3 point lead at 10-7, but the storm that was the San Francisco 49ers was beginning to brew. The Niners, led by QB Joe Montana would answer the call from Dan Marino and the Miami Dolphins by putting up 3 TDs in the second quarter to the Dolphins two field goals. Though the Dolphins were arguably still in the contest at half, the San Fran defense would take over in the second half, as Dan Marino and the Miami offense could offer nothing in terms of a scoring drive. With 10 more 3rd quarter points, the 49ers would go on to easily win Super Bowl XIX, securing another title for the city of San Francisco and another Super Bowl MVP award for Joe Montana.
