Super Bowl XXVI Washington Redskins vs. Buffalo Bills Date: January 26, 1992 Host City: Minneapolis, MN Stadium: Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome National Anthem: Harry Connick, Jr. Halftime Entertainment: Gloria Estefan, Brian Boitano, Dorothy Hamill MVP: Mark Rypien – Quarterback, Washington Redskins Final Score: Washington-37 Buffalo-24 The game began with a defensive battle, leaving the Bills in familiar territory. The Bills, who had again enjoyed success during the regular season with the “hurry up” attack, struggled during the first half of Super Bowl XXVI, not being able to put a score on the board. The Redskins, led by QB Mark Rypien, would push to a 17-0 halftime lead, leaving Buffalo desperate to make the most of every possession in the second half. Ultimately, the Bills were able to put up 24 points in the second half, outscoring the Redskins 24-20 in the 3rd and 4th quarters, yet the Bills defense was never able to stop the multifaceted Skins offense. Though the score would reflect a late run by the Bills, there was never any doubt as to who was in control of the contest through its duration.
