Super Bowl XXXV Baltimore Ravens vs. NY Giants Date: January 28, 2001 Host City: Tampa, FL Stadium: Raymond James Stadium National Anthem: Back Street Boys Halftime Entertainment: Aerosmith, Britney Spears, Nelly, Mary J. Blige, 'NSYNC MVP: Ray Lewis – Linebacker, Baltimore Ravens Final Score: Baltimore-34 New York-7 It was an embarrassing performance by the NY Giants in Super Bowl XXXV. Coming into the game only slight underdogs to the Baltimore Ravens, it was thought that they could stay close throughout the contest due to Baltimore's lackluster offense. Unfortunately, the Giants could do absolutely nothing vs. Ray Lewis and the dominant Ravens D, only managing to punch in one TD (on a returned kick) during the game. Kerry Collins was clearly shaken from the beginning as the deficit continued to mount against he and his offensive counter parts – they were simply never a threat to score. The Giants special teams were terrible, allowing Baltimore the opportunity to play with a short field, and even giving up a kickoff return for a TD. Ultimately, it was the “mediocre” offense of Baltimore that shined brightly under the leadership of underrated QB, Trent Dilfer, lighting up the Giants secondary for multiple big gains.
