Super Bowl XXXVI New England Patriots vs. St. Louis Rams Date: February 3, 2002 Host City: New Orleans, LA Stadium: Louisiana Superdome National Anthem: Mariah Carey Halftime Entertainment: U2 MVP: Tom Brady – Quarterback, New England Patriots Final Score: New England-20 St. Louis-17 Who could have known that Super Bowl XXXVI would be the beginning of one of the NFL's greatest dynasties? Coming into the game heavy underdogs, the New England Patriots had clearly prepared well for the St. Louis offensive attack. They held the Rams to 3 points in the first half, and scoring 14 themselves, were able to come into the second half enjoying the view from the driver's seat. The Rams would counter in the 4th quarter, finally seeing Kurt Warner hook up with his offensive threats, putting 14 more quick points on the board. Then, as if written in a story book, Adam Vinatieri would enter the game to kick a 48 yard field goal for the win. Tom Brady, who led the final scoring drive in the 4th quarter, was named Super Bowl XXXVI MVP. Check out the summaries of Super Bowl XXXV and Super Bowl XXXVII.
