BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) -- The agent for Indianapolis
Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison said reports that the
All-Pro is under investigation in connection with a shooting are
untrue, according to a report by ESPN on Friday.
ESPN reported earlier in the day that Harrison is being
investigated in connection with a shooting that took place
earlier in the week at a bar he owns. His agent, Tom Condon,
flatly rejected those claims.
"I've spoken with Marvin and I've spoken with his attorney, and
they say the reports are erroneous," Condon said in the report.
"Marvin was not involved in any shooting, and he is not the
subject of this investigation."
However, the report said that Harrison was interviewed by police
about the shooting, according to Lt. Frank Vanore, but has not
been arrested or charged.
"He was interviewed," Vanore told ESPN. "Why he was
interviewed, that is all part of the investigation. No one is a
suspect."
While speculation surrounds Harrison, Colts coach Tony Dungy was
at the first day of his team's mini-camp for rookies but had no
further information, according to ESPN.
"My phone has been ringing, too, but I don't have any details,"
Dungy told the network. "I really don't have any more
information than you do."
Indianapolis president Bill Polian would not offer much else.
"We have no credible information at this time, and we will not
comment until we do," Polian said in a statement.
What has been reported are the basic details of an altercation
at Playmakers, Harrison's bar in his hometown of Philadelphia.
Anthony Gargano of Philadelphia's WIP Radio reported that a
victim was shot in the hand after arguing outside the bar with
Harrison.
According to the report, Harrison was at the establishment late
Tuesday afternoon when the alleged victim and the wide receiver
got in an argument that led to a fistfight.
Gunfire soon broke out, leaving the victim with an injured hand,
according to the report. However, the victim did not identify
the shooter.
Through ballistic tests, police determined the gun that had
fired shots was owned by Harrison.
When police discovered the gun at a car wash also owned by
Harrison, sources say that tests showed the weapon had fired
seven bullets that matched those found at the scene.
Another person reportedly was injured due to broken glass flying
from the victim's car, and police still are waiting for more
details and witnesses to come forward.
While Harrison has not been identified as the shooter,
Pennsylvania state laws say that a person with a registered gun
linked to a shooting can be charged with a misdemeanor crime.
