DETROIT (Ticker) - Tatum Bell was unable to steal carries with
the Detroit Lions. So apparently he did the next-best thing.
According to a report MLive.com, Bell on Monday stole a couple
of bags belonging to fellow running back Rudi Johnson, who was
in town seeking a job with the Lions.
The story initially was reported by profootballtalk.com and
later confirmed by MLive.com.
As it turned out, Johnson agreed to a deal with Detroit and took
the roster spot of Bell, who was released by Detroit on Tuesday.
According to profootballtalk.com, the Lions were able to
identify Bell as the culprit after reviewing tapes from their
security surveillance system.
Citing a source, MLive.com said Johnson was "pretty miffed"
about the incident, although he reportedly will not press
charges.
The source told MLive.com that Bell and Johnson had a pretty
good conversation about the team and city. Eventually, Bell
figured out why Johnson was in the city, presumably leading to
the alleged theft of Johnson's bags.
