BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) - Cleveland Browns cornerback Daven Holly
could be lost for the season after suffering a serious knee
injury during a team workout Tuesday.
Browns coach Romeo Crennel said Holly sustained ligament and
cartilage damage to his left knee.
The 25-year-old Holly will undergo knee surgery Friday,
according to Cleveland general manager Phil Savage.
"To sustain an injury like this is not a good thing by any
means," Savage said.
Holly was hurt when he landed awkwardly while coming down for a
jump ball with wide receiver Braylon Edwards, who suffered a hip
pointer on the play.
Edwards sat out practice Wednesday and is listed as day-to-day.
Holly was expected to battle Eric Wright and Brandon McDonald
for a starting cornerback position.
A seventh-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2005, Holly
has played two seasons with the Browns. His best season was in
2006, when he had five interceptions.
