Browns TE Shea retires

editor1  |May 23,2008

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Tight end Aaron Shea officially announced
his retirement from the Cleveland Browns on Friday.

Shea, 31, who was selected 110th overall in 2000, caught 97
passes for 851 yards and seven touchdowns in 65 games - 30
starts - for Cleveland from 2000-2005.

"My back just could not do it," Shea told ESPN Radio 850.
"Today, I decided to retire. As much as I wanted to come back
and play in a Browns' uniform, holding my girls and stuff like
that is just a little more important."

A native of Ottawa, Illinois, Shea missed both the 2006 and 2007
seasons with back injuries.

"I'm going to see three doctors out in California," Shea said.
"I'm going to see what they have to say so I can get this
figured out and live a pain-free life."
