SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The San Diego Chargers added depth to
their offensive line on Monday, signing center Jeremy Newberry
to a one-year contract.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A veteran of 10 NFL seasons, the 6-5, 315-pound Newberry has
played in 104 career games with the Oakland Raiders and San
Francisco 49ers, starting each contest. While his most
significant action has been at center, Newberry has also started
at guard and tackle throughout his career.

Last season, Newberry bounced back from injuries to start 14
games for Oakland.

Prior to his one-year stint with the Raiders, Newberry played
nine seasons with San Francisco, where he was a Pro Bowl lineman
in 2001 and 2002. Monday's signing will allow him to rejoin
Chargers coach Norv Turner, who served as the 49ers' offensive
coordinator in 2006.
