Report: Colts C Saturday to miss six weeks with knee injury

editor1  |Aug 27,2008

INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- While Peyton Manning appears on course
to return from a knee surgery in time for the season opener,
Indianapolis Colts center Jeff Saturday will not be as lucky,
according to a published report Wednesday.

The Indianapolis Star reported that Saturday will be sidelined
for at least the first six weeks of the regular season with a
torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee, which was
suffered in Sunday's 20-7 preseason loss to the Buffalo Bills.

If the 33-year-old Pro Bowl center - who has started 59 straight
games - decides to have surgery to repair ligament damage to his
right knee, he could miss as many as 11 weeks, according to the
report.

The news of Saturday's demise comes just one day after the team
welcomed back Manning, who underwent surgery July 14 to have an
infected bursa sac removed. Manning was activated from the
Physically Unable to Perform list on Tuesday and practiced for
the first time.
