Saints sign pair of draft picks

editor1  |Jul 18,2008

NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- The New Orleans Saints on Friday agreed
to terms with wide receiver Adrian Arrington and kicker Taylor
Mehlhaff on three-year contracts.

A seventh-round pick in the 2008 draft, Arrington had 109
receptions for 1,438 yards and 16 touchdowns in 35 games with
Michigan before deciding to forego his senior year and enter the
draft.

A Wisconsin standout, Mehlhaff became the first kicker drafted
by the Saints since Morten Andersen in 1982. He was selected in
the sixth round in the 2008 draft.

"After watching these players progress through minicamps and the
offseason program, we're eager to see them compete in training
camp and on into game action," New Orleans general manager
Mickey Loomis said. "Both of these young men are players that
could make an impact on our ballclub."

The Saints also waived cornerback Anwar Phillips, quarterback
Travis Lulay and defensive end Jeremy Geathers.
