Texans agree to fiveyear extension with RT Winston

BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) -- The Houston Texans have
apparently found a player on the offensive line they want to
build around.

The Texans have agreed to a five-year extension with right
tackle Eric Winston, ESPN .com reported Saturday.

The deal, which comes on the eve of Houston's season-opening
game at Pittsburgh, is reportedly worth $30 million with $10
million worth of guarantees.

A third-round pick out of Miami in 2006, Winston has not taken
long to be considered one of the Texans' core group of young
players on offense. The 6-5, 283-pounder appeared in seven
games in his rookie season before playing in all 16 last year.

With Houston aiming to improve a running game that finished 22nd
in the league last season, locking up the 24-year-old Winston
for the long term is the first step in the right direction.
