Boyer; Dolphins May Want a Quarterback

DJ Boyer  |Mar 29,2008
There has been talk off and on about whether or not the Dolphins would want a quarterback in this draft. Many including myself have been speculating the Dolphins have been keeping talk of Matt Ryan alive in order to generate trade interest so they can move down the board. The Falcons seem to be the only team interested enough to make a deal but without the vibe that other teams want the services of Ryan they can stay put at #3. The real interest seems to be at the top of the second round where the Dolphins pick #33 overall and the target could be Chad Henne. Henne has already had a visit with the Dolphins and they were very interested at his private workout and at The Senior Bowl where he was interviewed at length by the team. There are other report though that indicate the Dolphins are happy with John Beck and that he has made a ton of progress. I personally feel the team gave up on Beck way to early last year. When you play your first two games on the road in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and don’t commit any turnovers and are in both games until the end….that says a lot. Let’s not forget the lack of weapons Miami had in the arsenal and by the time Beck took over the reigns Ronnie Brown was already lost for the year.

*Upcoming Pro Day…..USC *

The next anticpated Pro Day comes on Wednesday April 2^nd when most if not all of the NFL teams will have representatives looking at the USC Pro Day. Sedrick Ellis seems to be the hot commodity there but teams looking for some nice second tier prospects like defensive end Lawrence Jackson or quarterback John David Booty will be interested. While Ellis is the biggest name many teams already have a feeling what they can expect from him. The attention ay be turned towards cornerback Terrell Thomas who is getting more and more interest as a third round pick who may be inching his way into round two. Standing nearly 6-1 with 4.45 speed is something that always grabs a scouts attention and once you get through the 5-7 corners that look to be drafted in round one the second tier is wide open and Thomas could be the man leading the way.
