Player Spotlight; Dan Connor

Linebacker U., when you hear that nickname you normally know which school comes to mind and that is Penn State. Jack Ham, LaVar Arrington, Shane Conlan, Brandon Short, Paul Pozluszny just to name a few. Dan Conner looks like the next name that can be added to that list.

*Dan Connor Linebacker Penn State*
Senior 6-2 235

*Strengths:* Range
*Weaknesses:* Upper body strength

*Statline:* With all of the great linebackers that have played at Penn State it is the 419 tackles by Dan Connor that is the school record.

*Technique:* Fantastic range and ability even though straightline and open field speed seem to be average to a little slower at best for Connor. Sound tackler who rarely fails to wrap up a ball carrier.

*Known Injuries:* No major injuries for Connor at Penn State.

*Combine / Workout Assessment*: Coming Soon.

*DJ Boyer's Analysis:* The comment in the statline is most impressive when you think about all of the great linebackers that have been at Penn State over the years and you remember he spent three years sharing the limelight with Paul Pozluszny at Penn State. I don’t think Connor is going to be a star at the next level but I think he can be a valuable standout because I think he has the ability to play all three major linebacking positions at the NFL level. I also feel he does a great job at getting after the quarterback and can even be a blitz specialist with a team looking for more pure pass rushers coming off the edge. Will have to bulk up and improve his upper body strength, especially if asked to play in the middle at the NFL level. Very cerebral player who is not only a standout but has the ability to be a leader and call defensive formations on the field. Had one off the field incident at Penn Sate involving phone calls and harassment but is seen as a good character type player who won’t give coaches heartburn. Looks like a second or third round pick and with his versatility he will be on the radar screen for a lot of teams.
