Player Spotlight; Glen Dorsey

While Darren McFadden may be the most recognizable name in this draft he may not be the best overall prospect. More and more pundits and teams seem to have a battle at the top of their boards between Chris Long and this man, Glen Dorsey. Many questioned his decision to stay at LSU for his senior season (yours truly included). After a National Championship and being assured of being a top 5 pick it looks like Dorsey fooled many of us and made a brilliant decision.

*Glen Dorsey Defensive Tackle LSU*
Senior 6-1 310

*Strengths:* Explosion off the snap
*Weaknesses:* Height

*Statline:* 69 tackles with 12.5 tackles for loss and 7 sacks as a senior.

*Technique:* Technique seems to be flawless and uses exceptional
leverage to compensate for being on the smaller side for a defensive
tackle and not having long arms.

*Known Injuries:* had minor problems with his ankle and his shin while
at LSU, no major injuries to speak of.

*Combine / Workout Assessment:* Coming Soon.

*DJ Boyer's Analysis:* Glen Dorsey is a sure fire top five pick in this draft and there is a real possibility he could be the first name we hear come off of the draft board. A shorter defensive tackle standing only a hair above 6-1, he has a solid base and very powerful legs which he uses to gain leverage on opposing offensive lineman nearly every play. Explosive off the snap but he has the leg strength to hang back and plug up the hole as an effective run stuffer. Dorsey has the quickness to play as a large defensive end for a team that could be employing a three man front. Number have gone up every year at LSU and he has played through minor injuries and his toughness is not in question. Dorsey may not have the best career of the top 3 or 4 prospects in this draft but he may have the most immediate impact right out of the gate. He has enough experience to go along with his explosiveness to be an immediate force on the field. Model citizen while at LSU and coaches rave about his work ethic and how he always strives to be even better. Other thing that helps Dorsey in this draft is many of the teams at the top of the draft class have a genuine need in the middle of their line and wouldn’t be taking Dorsey based on potential and talent alone.
