Social D & The Shark's Fantasy Corner For Week 7

Time for another back and forth with Football.com's in house fantasy experts, Jim Derwin (Social Derwinism) and Jeremiah Sarkett (The Shark). Let's see what they have to say for Week 7's matchups...

Hey Shark,

Long time no back n forth. Can I start this off by
saying what a completely whack fantasy football season
this is?  Because NOTHING has gone as predicted by
so-called experts, my team is completely in the tank.
I'm sure you've noticed I officially renamed my team,
"The Groins." That was a nod to my boys Steven
Jackson and Lawrence Maroney. Also known as my top
two picks in our draft. They have to be two of the
biggest fantasy busts in recent memory. I dare you to
give me two bigger ones from the last five years.

Meanwhile while my team is stinking up the joint, your
team is flying high undefeated. Even with LJ being
held pretty much in check, you're rippin your
opponents apart. Of course it doesn't hurt to have
Tony Romo on your side.

That said, here are my must starts this week by
position. I'm going to change it up a bit and not
include the obvious ones such as Peyton, Carson,
Brady, Adrian Peterson, etc.

QB

Eli Manning

Drew Brees

Kyle Boller (yes Boller... just watch!)

Jason Campbell

Tony Romo

RB

LenDale White

Thomas Jones

Earnest Graham

Kevin Faulk

Reggie Bush

Willie Parker

Willis McGahee

WR

Plaxico Burress

Bernard Berrian

Wes Welker

Patrick Crayton

Ronald Curry

Joey Galloway

Antwaan Randle-El

Let me hear your thoughts on this fantasy season so
far. I'm sure it won't be a rant like mine because
what can you complain about when you're 6-0 and
playing about as beautifully as New England.

Sincerely,

The Groin of FB.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey Groins,

This year is really up side down with all the injuries and poor offensive
performances from teams that the 'experts' were all expecting more from. I
can think of a handful of first round busts this year. Your two guys, Steven
Jackson
and Lawrence Maroney are two of my biggest round one flops but you
also have Shaun Alexander, Frank Gore and Rudi Johnson. Larry Johnson and
Maurice Jones-Drew have also been off to slow starts but are beginning to
show glimpses of 2007. But damn bro, the big name running backs have yet to produce.

Most fantasy leagues have become much more wide receiver and quarterback
friendly with NFL teams almost looking to pass first and run second in 2008. We are
seeing this in New England, Indy (throw first baby), Cincinnati, Dallas, and Seattle. Until the super
star running back start putting numbers up, most owners have opted to play a hot receiver in their flex position instead. Most owners have also stuck with their first round studs and have lost games because of it.

Don't get me wrong, you can find first, second and third round busts across
the board. Torry Holt, Javon Walker, Hines Ward, Drew Brees, and your boy Santana Moss, have looked better. The injury bug may be done biting for a bit and some normalcy should return to most fantasy leagues but it may be too late for some owners. Week 7 is a massive fantasy week that should showcase the return of the 'flops.'

Stay Away From

QB

Ben Roethlisberger at Denver - Big Ben has looked very good lately but this
is Champ Bailey & Co. (Champ should play and play well) and a Broncos team that can't stop the run. Pittsburg will be looking to wear the Broncos down with their run game first before
airing it out. If you have another option at quarterback this week, take it.

David Garrard
vs Indianapolis - Garrard has also looked impressive but this
game is the biggest of his career and against a Colts defense that is very
under rated, especially their pass defense. The Colts are ranked third in
passing defense thus far and the Jags are near the bottom in passing
offense.

RB

Maurice Jones-Drew
vs Indianapolis - Jones-Drew has been off and running of
late but this week will be his biggest challenge against a stingy Colts
defense coming off a bye week. The Colts defense should force the Jaguars
into more passing scenarios, limiting Jones-Drew's touches.

Clinton Portis vs Arizona - The Cardinals have been stout against the run
this year and with Portis being constantly bothered by his knee look for the
Cardinals to hold him under 100 yards this week. The Cardinals have had
success stopping the run and the Redskins love to run the ball. With this
game being a must win for both teams, something has to give.

Joseph Addai at Jacksonville - Addai was banged up in week 5 but with the
Colts on a bye last week he should be ready to go. The problem is that he is
up against what has become the league's best run stopping defense. Look for
the Colts to pass first (as always) and if Addai struggles, don't be
surprised to see him resting on the bench and the Colts passing for most of
the game.

Rudi Johnson vs New York Jets - Rudi is back from a hamstring injury but
will be sharing the work load until he can prove he is 100 percent healthy.
Cincy has been passing a ton this year and look for this trend to continue
against a Jets team that has had nightmares trying to stop the pass. Rudi is
not going to be ready, back to his 2007 ways until week 9.

WR

Hines Ward at Denver - Hines is well rested and very near 100 percent but
will be matched up against the leagues best cornerbacks tandem, Champ Bailey and Dre Bly. Don't look for huge numbers in Ward's first game in a bit and
against the NFL's number one pass defense.

Marvin Harrison at Jacksonville - Marv is back (should be a go for this week) after sitting for two weeks
but is still a bit hampered. Tony Dungy knows this and will use his ace
receiver sparingly this week against Jacksonville. Harrison should be back
to his old self next week but this week he is a big question mark in my
book. Right now Harrison is listed as questionable, make sure to monitor his status.

Lee Evans vs Baltimore - For those of you owners that have stuck with Evans
(get rid of him) you need to sit him this week (and every until he gets
going) against Ed Reed and the Ravens secondary. Tent Edwards may be looking
better than expected but there is no way that Evans has 100 yards and a
score this week. Not even close!

Marques Colston vs Atlanta - Colston is a decent third option this week but
with the Saints offense still not in full force and Deanglo Hall in the
secondary for Atlanta don't expect much. If Colston can start strong he may
end the game with some decent numbers but don't look for Atlanta to let
Brees & Co. get out of the gates passing the ball.

We'll hell man, the season is flying by. I wish you the best this week, I
see your team coming on late dude and getting hot at the right time... What
are your lineup thoughts Jimbo, are you ready to give Dallas Clark some love
now!?

I hope Jackson and the Rams can get going soon for you brotha.

The Shark
