Social D & The Shark's Fantasy Corner Week 4

Jeremiah O. Sarkett  |Sep 28,2007

Are you ready for Week 4 Shark?

I might be 0-3 so far, but I'm comin at of you like a
spider monkey! I think we can agree my biggest
problem is the lack of big play receivers and a solid
QB. You and I had a back alley trade the other day
that I think helped both of us. I was deep with
running backs, which you lacked. Especially with
Deuce now out for the season. So you now have the
Edge, and in return you gave me Vincent Jackson and
Brandon Marshall. While it looks one sided on paper,
I think we'll both see the fruits of that trade.

I made a move and dropped Jeff Garcia and picked up
David Gerrard. It looks like Philip Rivers is ready
to start showing up, so hopefully my QB situation is
resolved. I think Vincent Jackson will have an
immediate impact for me since the Chargers play the
Chiefs and I see the whole Charger offense taking out
all this season's frustrations on this sub-par Chiefs
team. This finally could be my week. And it couldn't
happen at a better time since I'm playing Steve &
Michelle, aka OC Force. I am concerned with my
running backs though. Stephen Jackson isn't playing
on Sunday. Then again he hasn't been much of a
factor. I picked up DeShawn Wynn off waivers after I
dropped Jeff Garcia. Wynn has been averaging 5.2
yards per carry which is the best out of the Packer RB
corps.  Hopefully they'll give him more touches,
especially closer to the goalline.

Looks like you're up against my last opponent, Tommy's
Guns. I think you're in good shape to go 4-0. His
starting QB, Vince Young, has a BYE and to be honest,
I don't even think Tommy's paying attention. His main
point getter is Brian Westbrook and he's supposedly
banged up from last week. This could be a bigger rout
than when you played me. If I were you I'd take out
L.J. and put the Edge in. Just to fully wipe the floor
with him.

Come on Shark. Stroke my ego. Make me feel redeemed
in my fantasy misery!

Jimbo,

The trade will help both of our squads bro, if we can get it through!?

It's funny, not really but as soon as we made that trade, Deuce goes
down.... Classic. You mean, David GARRARD. Good choice, he has zero interceptions thrown
and is looking better each week. If the Jags can get their run game going
that should pan out for you big-dog.

Yea, big matchup this week for you - I see you getting the "w" bro and
getting some momentum going! Hines Ward is a big question mark for you
this week and if our trade does not go through, you will need someone to
fill the void at receiver for you... Nice job picking up Earnest Graham hoss,
that was a great move, I'd probably stick him in for Wynn right now as that
Viking defense is just sick up the middle!

And like you said, should be a walk in the park for me this week, my
team is playing well (everyone except L.J.) and I am making some sick moves each
week- makes me very hard to beat.... I don't want to get over confident
though, this is an up and down year and anything and everything is happening,
so.....

Where's your start list for this week Hostetler?

Who to stay away from this week:

QB

1. Matt Schaub at Atlanta - Schaub has his coming home party this week
of sorts but with the Falcons playing very good pass defense lately and without Andre
Johnson don't look for big numbers this week for Schaub and the Texans but some are saying other wise? Big call her Schaub owners.

2. Jay Cutler at Indianapolis - Cutler has only three touchdowns and has
made some interesting throws this year, relying on his arm strength and not
his quarterback prowess. Cutler needs to start maturing or this will be a
long season for him and the Broncos. With Bob Sanders and Indy this week,
don't look for the banged up (ankle) Cutler to have a great game, not this
week on the road. Cutler may be on this list again next week if he can't get
things going.

3. Jake Delhome vs. Tampa Bay - Delhomme has been solid this year but
last week he hurt is elbow on his throwing arm and is questionable for week four four. To make things worse, the Tampa Bay defense is quietly emerged as one of
the best in the NFL and have allowed one touchdown or less in their last
two games.

RB

1. Carnell Williams at Carolina - The Panthers have allowed just one
rushing touchdown and combine that with the strong play of Michael Pittman and
Earnest Graham last week, starting the Caddy this week should be a no
go if you have depth at the running back position.

2. Brian Leonard at Dallas - Yes he was a top waiver wire pick up this
week but how can Leonard produce when Steven Jackson could not? It won't
happen especially with a beat up Rams offensive line and an offense that in
general, looks like one of the worst in the league.

3. Brandon Jackson/DeShaun Wynn at Minnesota - The Packers backs are
also a no go this week as the Vikings run defense is bar none, the best in the
league allowing just 67 yards on the ground. With Favre hot, look for
the Packers to be passing a lot more also. The Packers are using the pass
to open up the run but this week I would find a replacement for Jackson or
Wynn.

WR

1. Vincent Jackson vs. Kansas City - Jackson came alive last week with
Philip Rivers and the San Diego passing game but this week Ty Law and the
strong Chief defense will prove that they are for real and should posse
problems for the Chargers receivers. With Antonio Gates and L.T. still
getting the majority of the looks on offense I would look elsewhere in
week four if you have some depth at wide receiver.

2. Brandon Marshall at Indianapolis - Marshall looked good last week but
with Cutler struggling a bit and a very fast Colts defense this week look
for less production from the Denver offense.

3. Lee Evans vs. New York Jets - Evans has been one of the biggest
fantasy busts thus far and with only 5 catches and 29 yards on the season, how
can you start him this week especially with the starting quarterback, J.P.
Lossman out?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey man,

Yeah really. If we can get it through. It's like we
have to bribe them with Gerber Baby Food. I need that
trade to go through because Hines Ward isn't playing
on Sunday. If he's out and I don't have your
receivers, I'm done with. I never liked Fantasy
Football!

Here's my list of players by position I think are
poised for big games.  Paranthesis means OBVIOUSLY...

QB

1.  (Peyton Manning)
2.  (Carson Palmer)
3.  (Tom Brady)
4.  Donovan McNabb - Should have another big day vs NY
Giants
5.  Tony Romo - That St Louis D should be pretty tired
by the 4th quarter
6.  Brett Favre - The man's on fire... let it ride.
Besides, its not like they'll be getting anything on
the ground against the Vikes

RB

1.  (Marion Barber)
2.  LDT - just have a feeling this Sunday he will be a
man posessed.
3.  Frank Gore - Seattle's run D is suspect.
4.  Willis McGahee
5.  LaMont Jordan - Go Former Terp
6.  Willie Parker
7.  Lawrence Maroney - I think the Pats will go up
quickly then hand it off the rest of the game.

WR

1.  (Randy Moss)
2.  (Chad Johnson)
3.  (Terrell Owens)
4.  (Plaxico Burress)
5.  Donald Driver
6.  Kevin Curtis
7.  Wes Welker - As much as Cincy will double up on
Moss, Welker should have some good looks in the slot.
8.  Dwayne Bowe - KC is gonna have to pass a lot in
this one.  Huard seems to have developed some
chemistry with Bowe.

Good luck but you don't really need it- send some of that my way will yea... I'm getting my win this week, Im too good of a owner to be 0-3!
