Week 6 is in the books and what a wacky week it was. The underdog teams continue to impress and with the big matchup in Dallas, this week was one of the best of the 2007 season. The six-pack has a new look and feel this week, got to love football - NFL action, it's fantastic! Check back every week to see if your team has climbed into my top six or if there were any significant changes in the rankings.
The six-pack is essentially, power rankings based on offensive/defensive statistics, wins, etc, etc. More importantly, these rankings are set from our fans and my personal opinions each week. AFC
1. New England Patriots (6-0) -- No change here- the Patriots led by Tom Brady and Randy Moss continue to dominate and are looking like a team of destiny. Brady & Co. showed the Cowboys who the 'Big Dawg' franchise really is... This Patriot team is one of the best teams in the history of the NFL and I am saying this in week 7! Brady is the front-runner for the MVP award and had another spectacular Sunday going 31-of-46 for 388 yards and five touchdowns. Wes Welker also had a monster game with 11 receptions for 124 yards, both career highs. Too many weapons in New England and with Brady at his prime, this team has a rare opportunity, to go perfect. This New England squad also has a legit shot to break the all-time NFL scoring mark held by the 1998 Minnesota Vikings. 2. Indianapolis Colts (5-0) -- The Colts are banged up and needed a bye week to rest and prepare for rival Jacksonville. Jacksonville smashed Indy the last time these two bitter rivals met and you can bet Peyton Manning & Co remember last December and the 44-17 whoopin. Indy was resting and recently without Marvin Harrison, Joseph Addai, Bob Sanders but they are all expected to be ready for what is week 7's biggest game. Game of the year reminder - November 4th - Indy and New England square-off and we will find out who the outright number one team in the AFC is and how good this New England team actually is. 3. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) -- The Steelers are back up to the third spot after an impressive shout-out victory over the Seattle Seahawks 21-0 in week 5. The bye for week 6 has helped the Steelers heal and prepare for a Denver squad that is looking to turn their season around. Mike Tomlin has the Steelers looking like the third best team in the NFL and certainly deserving of the recent praise from around the league. Ben Roethlisberger has been on point all year and the Steelers defense has been simply smothering. Big Ben had one of his best performances in week 5 as he completed 13 passes in a row and finished 18-of-22 for 206 yards and a touchdown against Seattle. 4. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-1) -- The Jaguars are quietly climbing back into the AFC race with back-to-back dominating wins. The Jaguars are currently one of the hottest teams in the NFL and are looking to prove something Sunday against archrival Indianapolis. The offense is scoring and looking pretty in doing it and the defense is looking meaner than ever. Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor have gotten the running game on track so look for big things from here on out from the Jags. 5. San Diego Chargers (3-3) -- The Super Chargers have climbed a spot after dominating Oakland Sunday led by none other than, L.T. Tomlinson scored four touchdowns and nearly hit the two hundred yard mark and guided San Diego past Oakland 28-14. The Chargers are alive and well and with L.T. and the run game going, this team is looking much more like the 14-2 squad from last year. Where are all the Norv Turner critics now? 6. Baltimore Ravens (4-2) -- The Ravens are back into the six-pack after a commanding 22-3 win against St. Louis. The Ravens defense again carried the way and Matt Stover kicked five field goals. Without offensive linemen Adam Terry, Mike Flynn and Jonathan Ogden I thought Kyle Boller would struggle but the offensive unit hung in there and Boller did not turn the ball over. The offensive line gave Boller and Willis McGahee just enough to get the job done. With a healthy offensive line and turnover free play from the quarterback position, this Ravens team is very nasty.
Honorable Mention
Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs

1. Dallas Cowboys (5-1) -- Dallas pulled out a wild win on Monday Night Football last week and stayed undefeated. This week was a bit different against New England. Dallas came into the heavy weight showdown with New England as underdogs for the first time this year and rightfully so. New England is down right scarry. This Patriot team is the best team in the NFL, by a long shot right. The battle of the bests was all AFC Sunday in Dallas. The Cowboys at times looked like they were going to hang with Brady & Co. but they just did not have enough players on defense to handle what this New England squad has become. Was that a Super Bowl preview last Sunday? Probably, but this Dallas defense is still questionable and with super-rookie, Adrian Peterson this week Dallas better not have a hang over. 2. Green Bay Packers (5-1) -- The old Brett Farve came back for the second straight week as Green Bay narrowly snuck past Washington in what was one of week 6's best matchups. The Packers again overcame a non-existent running game and two interceptions from Farve for a hard-fought 17-14 win. Charles Woodson had a game turning fumble return for a touchdown and the Packers defense shut down Clinton Portis and forced three Redskin turnovers to seal the deal. The one question mark with this team is the running attack. Who is going to step up and get the Packers run game going? Someone needs to, fast. 3. New York Giants (4-2) -- New York has won three straight games and has looked very imposing during this run. The G-Men are one of the hottest teams in the league right now and Eli Manning, very quietly is having a Pro Bowl year. On Monday Night Football, Manning was impressive as the Giants rolled past the Falcons, moving just one game behind Dallas in the wide-open NFC East. Manning went 27-of-39 for 303 yards and had two touchdowns. Plaxico Burress was again Manning's favorite target but long-time veteran Amani Toomer stole the show with his first touchdown of the season. With his first touchdown of 2007, Toomer became the Giants' all-time leader in receiving touchdowns. With struggling San Fransciso and Miami ahead, the Giants have a reasonable shot of entering their bye week 6-2. 4. Washington Redskins (3-2) -- The Redskins lost a nail-biter Sunday to the Packers. The Redskins had more yards and dominated the time of possession battle but fell just short at the end. The good news is the Redskins offense has looked much improved as Jason Campbell continues to mature. The defense is what has many of us talking though. If Washington can continue to dominate the defensive secondary and get phenomenal play from their front seven, this defense will keep Campbell & Co. in a lot of games. The Redskins have surrendered just 69 points this year and are among the league leaders in defense. Washington could easily be 5-0 at this juncture of the season. 6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2) -- Tampa Bay showed me something on Sunday bouncing back from a 33-14 nationally televised pounding last week, to beat a very good Tennessee Titans team 13-10. It was a slugfest the entire game and Jeff Garcia and the Bucs offense did not back down. The crafty veteran hooked up with the ageless, Joey Galloway to deliver the knockout punch for Tampa. Garcia went 20-of-31 for 274 with a touchdown and like Eli, he is very quietly having a Pro Bowl year. The Bucs are now 4-2 and in first place in the NFC South and have already matched their win total from last season.
