Vikings Win Harvey Keitel Game

Jim Derwin  |Sep 10,2007

The good news for the Minnesota Vikings is they won their home opener in convincing fashion.  The offense didn't make many mistakes.  Tavaris Jackson didn't kill them.  Adrian Peterson looked like a force to be reckoned with.  There is little doubt he will be the franchise running back and the next great RB in the NFL.  The defense appeared to have not lost a step from last year, and looked even better than last year if you ask me.  Anyone who didn't take Minnesota's 'D' in their fantasy draft, I'm sure tried to gobble them up off waivers after that dominating performance.

The bad news is, this was the ultimate Harvey Keitel game.  What's that mean?  Do you recall the scene from, "Pulp Fiction," where Keitel's character, Winston Wolf, uttered one of the greatest lines in film history?  You know after Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta give their car "a good once over," and Quentin Tarantino can't believe it's the same car.  Wolf then says, "Well let's not start sucking each other's *&% just yet."

You see the Vikings destroyed the Atlanta Falcons.  The Falcons could very well be the worst team in the NFL this year.  So congratulations Vikings.  You will not be the worst team this year.  Your defense and run game will get you at least six wins and keep you competitive in the mediocre NFC North.  In fact, there is a good chance the Vikings will be 4-0 when they reach their Week 5 bye week.  With upcoming games against Detroit, Kansas City, and Green Bay, it's not out of the question at all.  However, then they have a crucial four game stretch against Chicago, Dallas, Philly, and San Diego.  So what looked like a promising season could very put the Vikes back to reality sitting at 4-4 in Week 9.  Don't fret Vikings fans, just remember the good news that I mentioned before, and there is always next year.
