It's one and done for coach Bobby Petrino.

Not even 10 months into his stay with the Atlanta Falcons, Petrino has accepted the job at the University of Arkansas that will quite literally make him the coach of three teams within a one year span. After coaching the Louisville Cardinals to victory in 2007's Orange Bowl, he'll look to diversify the Hogs offense in Fayetteville, and get them off of the bubble. He'll have his work cut out for him, more than likely loosing both Darren McFadden and Felix Jones.

Upset doesn't begin to describe some of the Falcons players, including DeAngelo Hall, who believes Petrino got exactly what he was hoping for in coming to Atlanta and leaving so abruptly: A better job in the college ranks. What the players don't understand is that this is best for the organization. Arthur Blank and the new head coach (whoever it happens to be) will be cleaning house this winter and spring, and the 2008 Atlanta Falcons will truly have moved beyond the events surrounding 2007.

In all fairness, Petrino entered a situation in Atlanta that was unforseeable, and without a solution. It doesn't seem that it would take an individual very long to figure out that life in the NFL isn't what they hoped for, when their introduction to the league is through scandal. Did Petrino have the opportunity to win and get the Falcons to the next level? Sure...with Michael Vick on the squad. Fans may have seen some strange, incredibly entertaining version of a Veer-Spread offense in which Vick would live outside the pocket. The potential was undeniable, yet so now is reality.

Petrino finished with the Falcons 3-10.
