Jremy Bloom has heard all the doubters, those who question if the former Olympic, world-class skier will ever be tough enough to survive the rigors of an NFL career. His response? How about not only earning a spot on the team''s roster this season but a prominent place in its plans. Not only is the 5-9, 180 pound former Colorado star listed as the team's third or fourth receiver, but its primary kickoff and punt returner and kickoff man as well. In one recent preseason game against Baltimore, Bloom returned three kicks for an average of 23 -yards and a pair of punts for another 28-yards. In between, he managed to snare a couple of passes from backup quarterback Kevin Kolb. “I fielded something like 700 punts this training camp and a couple hundred kickoffs, so I felt comfortable,” says Bloom. But then, it's never been a question of talent for Bloom. With his diminutive size already an issue, people critics often question his commitment to the game given his Olympic Game aspirations. But after this camp, after the Ravens' game, many of those concerns have started to dissipate.
