Broncos Take Out Titans

The Denver Broncos were too much for the Tennessee Titans on Monday. As hard as the Titans tried to make the game interesting, Tennessee just couldn’t keep up with Denver.

The Broncos were up early. After Brandon Stokley reeled in a 48-yard touchdown pass and young punt returner Glenn Martinez busted out an 80-yard return for a score, the Titans found themselves down 14 points.

Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans responded to the early deficit. Young drove the Titans down the field and connected with Brandon Jones on a 21-yard touchdown pass. Just as the Titans were starting to show life, Denver stretched their lead with a pair of field goals.

Right before the end of the half, Titans kicker Rob Bironas attempted a 56-yard field goal. He missed it. But as luck would have it, Mike Shanahan was right in the middle of the ole last-second timeout routine. The ref called time as the ball sailed away from the post. After getting another chance, Bironas nailed the 56-yard FG and the Titans ended the half down only ten points.

The teams exchanged scores to start the third quarter. Jay Cutler found Brandon Marshall for a 41-yard touchdown. Vince Young dove into the end zone for a four-yard score. Bironas added another field goal and suddenly, the Titans were down by just one score.

That’s about when things started to get ugly. Denver running back Andre Hall <> busted a 62-yard touchdown run to put Denver back up by two scores. Although Hall did break a tackle on the play, his touchdown run proved that any running back (not named Maurice Clarett) can thrive in Denver’s RB-friendly offense.

After the dude that nobody’s ever heard of scored, Vince Young took it upon himself to close the game out with two interceptions. The Titans fell to 6-4. The Broncos improved to a non-losing record of 5-5. In today’s AFC West, that’s good enough for a share of first place.
