Burress Eyes Opener Plaxico Burress has resigned himself to the fact the odds of his sprained ankle being completely healed by the season-opener in Dallas are quite slim. But the Giants' star receiver is just as adamant in assuring one and all that he'll be on and the field and ready to mix it up come the big showdown with the 'Boys “This is probably the best I'm going to feel,” Burress says of his right ankle. “It's going to be sore for a while, it's going to be something I'm going to have to fight through.” Burress missed 19 days of training camp with the injury, dramatically cutting into the amount of time quarterback Eli Manning had to work with his starting core of wideouts. Under the watchful eye of Coach Tom Coughlin and receivers coach Mike Sullivan, he returned to camp for the last week of practice. “He's looked pretty good,” said Coughlin. “It's good to have him back on the field and working with the quarterbacks.” Sullivan took matters even a step further. “Plaxico has done a great job in the meetings, being focused and attentive,” he added. “At practice, he's getting the mental reps and helping the younger guys as we go through game plan. We're excited about getting him back.” And just in time for Dallas.
