Never one to be easily shaken, Eagles coach Andy Reid is adamant in maintaining he feels his offense doesn't have far to go in turning around its slow start. “We're just off a hair,” Reid stressed to the Philly Inquirer after watching his team muster just four field goals in a 20-12 Monday night loss to the division leading Washington Redskins. The loss dropped the Eagles to 0-2, and, just as alarmingly, left them with just one offensive touchdown over that span. Much of the attention for the team's less than glorious origins has centered around veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb, who is still searching to find his way after missing the latter part of last season with a knee injury. But Reid is quick to tell anyone willing to listen it's not all about the perennial Pro Bowler. "It's not all Donovan," said Reid. "It's me getting him in the right position to do some things and him knocking the rust off himself and the guys around him." And McNabb agrees, at least to an extent. “I don't believe in rust," said McNabb "I have to go out there and make plays." The numbers, 28 of 46 for 240 yards against the Skins, say the Eagles quarterback accomplished a bit of that, but for a team accustomed to winning, a team that has played in four conference title games over the last decade and opened 0-3 just once before during Reid's eight-year tenure, that seems hardly enough. “We're sitting 0-2, so something has to change,” added McNabb. “All that matters is that I have to do what I've got to do for us to win. It's all about winning."
