G-Men Near Full Strength Following the team's second preseason game, you couldn't blame Tom Coughlin if he decided to query the league about his squad simply forfeiting the remainder of its schedule. At the rate things were going for the Giants, that seemed the only way he might be able to field a team once the games began in earnest. No less then seven players left the field during the team's 13-12 win over Baltimore nursing various injuries that sidelined each of them for varying periods of times. Wideout Michael Jennings suffered the most serious injury--- a season-ending ruptured achilles--- but clearly Jeremy Shockey's pulled hamstring created the biggest stir. Such injuries are known to sometimes linger and team brass surely realizes that without a healthy Shockey the team's passing game could easily ground to a halt. But, being the warrior he prides himself on, Shockey made it back before the preseason ended and Coughlin now expects his emotional star to be near full strength for the season-opener against conference rival Dallas. Safety Will Demps (dislocated right elbow), rookie receiver Steve Smith (concussion), offensive linemen Grey Ruegamer (high ankle sprain) and cornerback Sam Madison (ankle) are all also expected back by the time the Giants invade Texas.
