G-Men's Jacobs, Ward Expected to Play Running backs Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward, key cogs in the Giants recent surge, are expected to be in uniform and ready for battle when the team hosts San Francisco on Sunday. During the Giants' 31-10 romp over Atlanta Monday night, Jacobs was twice forced to the sidelines by a neck stinger and sprained ankle. The Giants' starting tailback has already missed three games this season with a sprained knee ligament. In the case of Ward, he re-tweaked an already sprained ankle against the Falcons, limiting him to just eight carries. All week long, coach Tom Coughlin has implored the team's leader rusher to go slow during practice in hopes of having him on hand for the Niners. Over the team's first six games, the Giants' trio of Ward (421 yards), Jacobs (212) and Reuben Droughns has rushed for 754 yards, taking much of the pressure off star quarterback Eli Manning, off to one of his best career starts with nearly 1,400 yards passing and 11 touchdowns.
