Kenny Iwebema Interview Defensive end Kenny Iwebema has the size and strength to make it at the next level. The former Iowa Hawkeye addressed what else it may take and more at the NFL Combine. What's the process of preparing been like for you? The whole process has been something new to me, something that I had heard about from guys that graduated before me. Guys (from Iowa) have gone on to the league and have done good things. Basically I knew going into it that it was going to be a lot of hard work, but at the same time it was going to be a good experience. You meet new people. You meet guys at your position all across the country that have been doing what you've been doing for the last 41/2 years. It's been a wonderful experience. You think left end in a 4-3 is going to be your best position? I'll play wherever they want me to. Left side, right side, it doesn't matter to me. I could care less. Is there a knack to blocking field goals? Just do what you're supposed to. I think it's a combination of (skill and luck). You don't get lucky unless you're in the right position. I had the opportunity to have four good special teams coaches. We worked on it every day in practice. Just being in the right place at the right time gets you in the place to make plays. Does special teams help your NFL chances? Whatever you can do to help whatever team you end up playing for win games. I don't see why it wouldn't help, being able to go out there and make plays. It's just doing whatever it takes to help the team win. What is special about Iowa? I just loved the atmosphere and the coaching staff. I fell in love with them on the visit. Coach Ferentz is a very good coach. He's helped me grow into, I feel, a good man. What do you tell general managers about you to sell them? That I'm a good person to be around. I like to keep things fun. But at the same time, I'm a hard worker. And I'll do anything it takes to win. Your favorite player? My favorite player was Charles Haley. He was just an all-around good defensive end, and I just like watching him play. Critique yourself against the run vs. the pass I feel I'm a lot better against the run, just being able to recognize blocks. I could do better at getting off blocks. Everybody has something to work on, and I feel that's what I need to work on.
