The injury bug reared its ugly head in Giants' land Sunday night, sending three starters to the sidelines with various ailments during the team's 45-35 season-opening loss in Dallas. Prompting the biggest concern was the bruised right shoulder suffered by star quarterback Eli Manning that ended his career outing midway through the fourth quarter. Manning, who threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns, is slated for a MRI on Monday. For what it's worth, the third-year quarterback is optimistic he won't need to miss any extended time. “It just feels a little tight, a little sore right now," said Manning, who was hurt on a failed two-point conversion attempt when he was clipped by blitzing Cowboys' rookie Anthony Spencer during the fourth quarter. "I think I just bruised i,” he added. “I'm still able to throw on it. I threw the last touchdown to Plaxico (Burress) on the last drive with it. So I can still make all the throws." The verdict seems much more uncertain on fellow starters Brandon Jacobs and Osi Umenyiora, both of whom are also scheduled for MRIs on Monday. Umenyiora hurt his knee in the first quarter and Jacobs went down with a similar injury early in the second. Reserve defensive back Kevin Dockery also went down with an ankle injury.
