Moss to join NASCAR as an owner

Probably most football fans are aware by now that New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss plans to put a team in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The team of Moss Motorsports may run in some races later this season, but Moss' plan is to run the full season in 2009. No sponsors have come on board as yet and Moss is in the process of looking for a driver. It goes without saying what some folks are already thinking. For Moss' sake, hopefully he finds a driver that just doesn't drive when he wants to.

Beaver hoping to live his dream.

Everyone loves the underdog. It is as American as the game of football itself. And every year there are underdogs that face probably the biggest challenge since they started playing football. No, we're not talking about the late round picks or undrafted free agents trying to earn a roster spot. We're talking about the players whose only chance of making a team is totally impressing NFL personnel in tryouts during rookie minicamp. One such player is running back Justin Beaver from Wisconsin-Whitewater. Beaver was the second leading rusher in Division III history. He also impressed in workouts by running the 40 in the 4.55 range, posting a vertical jump of 32 inches and pounding out 25 reps on the bench press. But Beaver measures in at 5'7", which is somewhat small by NFL standards. But the Green Bay Packers saw enough of Beaver to give him a tryout and now his fate is in his hands. While Beaver may not be big, he has played big and may be the underdog that wins despite the odds.
