Pac Man Fever (By Bill Neri-Amadeo) It really should be driving you crazy but the powers that be aren’t allowing this to happen just yet. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has not committed to letting Adam “Pac Man” Jones back onto the football field which is exactly where he belongs. Let’s face the facts. Pac Man has made some mistakes but shouldn’t the punishment fit the crime. With that in mind, here’s something to think about: PAC MAN JONES HAS NEVER BEEN CONVICTED OF A CRIME!!! How pathetic is the NFLPA to allow a dues paying member to lose a year of salary without ever being convicted of anything?
Rumors are swirling that Jones will be traded to the Dallas Cowboys and a smarter move could not be made. If Goodell allows Jones to play again, there is no question he is a shut-down cornerback who will instantly improve their defense. The biggest problem the Cowboys had last season was on third and long. If they had Jones in their secondary last season, they may been holding the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season.
Besides being an All-Pro type cornerback, Jones is one of the best return men in the NFL. Next to the Bears Devon Hester, there is not a better game breaker on special teams in the league.
If the Cowboys get Jones they will be the class of the NFC. He is a talent that is being deprived of doing what he does best because the powers at be are being too harsh and the NFLPA is run by a bunch of bunch of people who only care about their own job. (Yes Gene Upshaw, we are talking about you). I think it’s time we all catch Pac Man fever and watch the Cowboys retunr to prominence.
