Player Spotlight; Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie

When looking at the small school players (Players who did not play their final year or more at a Division I-A school) this is the man who is likely to be the first of the crop taken. He has wowed the scouts and fans alike all year long.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie           Cornerback             Tennessee State

Senior                                  6-1                    190

*Strengths:* Speed
*Weaknesses:* Consistency

*Statline:* 11 career interceptions at Tennessee State

*Technique:* Far from being a polished product Rodgers-Cromartie will be taken higher than what he should based upon size and speed combination.

*Known Injuries:* Played in 48 career games at Troy, a very durable player.

*Combine / Workout Assessment*: Running a 4.33 at the Combine was enough to make believers out of many teams but his work at the Senior Bowl was what got him on the radar.

*DJ Boyer's Analysis:* Rodgers-Cromartie is a very talented cornerback no question but he may be window dressing at this point because there were large parts of the season where he looked a little lost. Rodgers-Cromartie has turned more heads with his workouts that anything else he has accomplished. But with his speed combined with elite size at the position at nearly 6-2 you can bet Cromartie is going to have a lot of teams talking to him. Is a track champion and has a sprinters background. Can be turned around easily in the secondary and you would like to see him utilize his size and be more physical when helping in run support. Shows good instincts in space and in one-on-one situations but he has given up an alarming amount of big plays. If Rodgers-Cromartie can focus on the little things and improve his technique he has the chance to become a very special player. Cromartie also has a high amount of “bust potential” and it will be buyer beware for the team that selects him.
