Player Spotlight; Reggie Smith
Reggie Smith will be battling Malcolm Kelly for the title of first Oklahoma Sooner off the board for the upcoming Draft.

*Reggie Smith Cornerback Oklahoma*
Junior 6-0 200

*Strengths:* Closing speed
*Weaknesses:* Run support

*Statline:* 78 tackles with 3 interceptions and 11 pass break ups in 2007.

*Technique:* With experience at safety and cornerback Reggie Smith will be a valuable commodity for the upcoming draft. Shows himself at being a much better player against the pass than the run at this time.

*Known Injuries:* No major injuries while at Oklahoma.

*Combine / Workout Assessment*: Ran a 4.47 at the combine and showed well in the strength tests.

*DJ Boyer's Analysis:* Reggie Smith is a very interesting prospect because he has only one full season of playing cornerback under his belt. Smith split time at cornerback and safety in 2005 and 2006 but played safety nealy 75% of the polays he was on the field in that period. I think Smith is better suited as a proprospect for cornerback because his game is better suited playing the pass vice the run at this point and in many packages as a safety he would have to play the run more than the pass. Smith doesn't excel in man-to-man or zone coverage but he also shows no major or glaring deficiences in either area. I can think of many prospects who are more solid at cornerback but the fact that he has so much experieince and has played so many positions for a high calibur college program makes him a solid bet to pan out as a pro. Some teams may be tempted to take Smith at safety because the crop seems to be significantly weaker at that position than in years past. has the height and speed to play both positions and no matter where he plays at the next level he will have to playa  more physical brand of football. Seems like Smith tries to play physical but it doesn't seem to be his cup of tea. Looks like a lock to be taken somewhere in the second round unless a good workout pushes him into the first round.
