Redskins Collapse in 2nd Half If you had a hidden camera in my living room after Shaun Suisham nailed a 47 yard FG just before the half to put the Redskins up 17-3, you'd have seen a handsome man in the prime of his life jumping around, talking trash, and just being overly cocky. And why not? The Giants couldn't get anything going. The Redskins D-line was constantly putting Eli Manning in difficult situations, and actually forced him into three turnovers (2 INT 1 Fumble). The Skins were essentially moving the ball at will. Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts both were seemingly off to big days. Jason Campbell was moving well in the pocket and hitting his receivers in stride for big gains. It was perfect. Well, I guess it was too perfect. The 2nd half started and it was immediately recognizable that the Giants were a different team. Whatever Tom Coughlin said to them in the locker room, and whatever adjustments the Giants made worked to a tee. It was now the Giants moving the ball at will. Perfectly converting on 3rd down no matter what the distance. The Redskins running game swagger was a shell of its first half shelf. Washington only gained 83 yards TOTAL in the 2nd half. Yet in the last minute, they had a chance to win. Antwaan Randle-El put the Skins in great position to tie the game with a huge punt return that put them on the Giants' 35 yard line. Jason Campbell led his offense down to the one yard line for a goal line stance with the game on the line. On 4th and goal, the Skins were unable to hit pay dirt and just like that the Giants stole a division home game. Mark my words. This game will come back to haunt Washington when they are 8-6 and need two wins to get a wild card. There. I was able to write about this game without mentioning how Clinton Portis almost single handedly lost this game despite his first quarter touchdown. OK. Give me some credit, I almost made it.
