Reid Not Leaving Philly Eagles coach Andy Reid is refuting rumors he plans to resign from the post he has held for the ast eight-years sometime over the next few days. The Internet rumor mill has been ripe in recent days with news top level Philadelphia executives are unofficially confirming reports Reid plans to step down at any moment in the wake of the team's disappointing 1-3 start. Records aside, this has been a season unlike many Reid has known during his tenure in the City of Brotherly Love. Prior to the start of the year, Reid, who once led Philly to four consecutive NFC title games and a Super Bowl appearance, took a leave of absence after two of his sons were arresting on various drug charges and faced the prospect of lengthy prison sentences. Even on the field, the Eagles, perennially slow starters, have come far from resembling the focus and execution of Reid-coached squads. Star quarterback Donovan McNabb, recovering from off-season knee surgery, has been sporadic at best and recently charged in the media that African-American quarterbacks, such as himself, are often unfairly openly judged and criticized. In addition, star running back Brian Westbrook has been among a slew of top-flight players to miss various periods of time due injury. Pro Bowl defenders Lito Sheppard and Brian Dawkins have also missed key stretches, as has veteran offensive linemen Winston Justice. But, even in the face of all that, Reid and others assure he's here for the long haul. “Nothing to it,” said Eagles public relations director Derek Boyko. “Andy is preparing for the Jets, and it's just like any other week. I have no idea how this got so out of control. If there's a press conference, I'm not going to be there.” The Eagles face the 1-4 Jets this week in NYC.
