Skins Get Tough Win in Philly It’s never easy to go on the road in your division and get a win, but that’s what the Redskins were able to do Monday night in Philadelphia. Jason Campbell overcame early jitters and put together a couple of touchdown drives that helped Washington win 20-12, and now sit on top of the NFC East tied for first with the Dallas Cowboys.
The Eagles now sit tied for last place in the division with the New York Giants. Donovan McNabb did not look like his old self until the 4th quarter when he put his team in a position to tie the game but missed a wide open Kevin Curtis on a 3rd and long situation. At 4th and 6 with the game on the line, McNabb lobbed a nice throw again to Curtis who was able to catch it, but Redskins rookie Safety, LaRon Landry, came in with the big hit to knock the ball incomplete. Game over. It should be noted that Chris Cooley, Clinton Portis, Mike Sellers, and Antwaan Randle-El all looked great. On the flip side, Carlos Rogers continues to leave wide receivers open and I promise you that side of the defense will come back to haunt the Skins in a must-win game.
For the Redskins, this is a huge win. Not only is it mentally advantageous to be one of 9 teams in the NFL at 2-0, but to get a win in Philly where they have only one twice in the last 11 meetings is money in the bank. While the Redskins record may be perfect, their games have been far from it. These last two victories have been nail biters and for the second week in a row I have a hoarse voice from yelling at the TV. Just once I’d like them to blow a team out so I can sit back, relax and watch some good ol’ Joe Gibbs football.
