Tragedy Averted - Redskins' Season Still Alive Coaches, players, and 90,000 fans at Fed Ex Field held their breath in the first quarter of Saturday night's pre-season game against the Steelers as Redskins quarterback (make that the only Redskins quarterback), took an awkward, penalty inducing hit to the back of his knee. Campell immediately rolled around in pain as the guilty Steeler, Brett Keisel, apologized over and over. As the 90,000 strong at Fed Ex and the countless others in TV land hushed and prayed, one thought passed through their mind. How could this be? This season was supposed to make up for the embarassment that was 2006-07. The future of the Redskins 2007-08 season hinged on the ligaments of Jason Campbell's left knee. Maybe there is a God and just maybe he is a Redskins fan. Jason Campbell got up and limped back to the Redskins' sidelines seemingly under his own power. MRI results show that the injury is just a bad bruise. Redskins nation can breathe a sigh of relief. It just goes to show you how fragile an NFL team's season is. Had Campbell's foot not slipped a little in the grass after the hit, Fantasy footballers might be drafting Todd Collins in the 10th round, and the DC Metro area once again would have to say, "Maybe next year."
