Giants fans beware: the special teams unit you've come to know and love may not be up to looking the part over the first few weeks of the season. Just how long that may hold true, however, remains quite the conundrum. Mere hours after undergoing surgery to heal the broken bone in his wrist suffered in the team's third preseason game, a 20-12 loss to the Jets, Pro Bowl special teamer David Tyree was all but willing to take wagers on just how soon he'll be back in the lineup. The prognosis calls for Tyree to be out four to six months, but you'll be hard press to convince the patient of that. So strong-willed is Tyree that he continued to play on after sustaining the injury, hardly missing a beat in excelling in all the small, but key, areas he is reknown for. It's enough to give Giants coach Tom Coughlin a bit of optimism. "Dave is an optimist and he thinks he will be back sooner than anybody projects, so we will see," he said.
