Michael Vick made it official and will plead guilty in US District Court on Monday. He has signed a summary of facts that says he was involved with the Bad Newz Kennels enterpise which included fighting dogs, betting on fights, and killing dogs. Everyone thought if Vick took the deal to avoid harsher charges, he could somehow save his NFL career. Commissioner Roger Goodell, however, put an end to that speculation by suspending Vick indefinitely without pay. The Falcons are now reportedly trying to recoup the $22 million they have already paid to Vick in bonuses. The NFL collective bargaining agreement has made it so that teams can only recollect signing bonuses and not players' salaries. What does the future hold for Vick then? Well, prison time is almost a certainty. Vick is looking at one year or longer behind bars. That's enough time to build a prison team a la "The Longest Yard,' right? That may be the only team Vick ever plays for again. The Falcons are moving on as if he will never suit up again. Other NFL teams don't want to touch this PR nightmare. It's quite possible we've seen the last of the most athletic quarterback to ever play the game. What a shame. What a waste of talent.
