Nate Burleson - Wide Receiver
Nate Burleson - Wide Receiver Nate Burleson was a spite signing. When the Minnesota Vikings signed Seattle guard Steve Hutchinson to a $49 million offer sheet in 2006, they included a 'poison pill' in the deal that made it impossible for Seattle to match the offer. If Hutchinson was not the highest paid lineman on the team, his contract would have to be fully guaranteed. Because Walter Jones was already the highest-paid lineman on the team, Seattle was helpless to stop Hutchinson's departure. The Seahawks returned the favor by making an offer to Burleson that included a poison pill clause as well. If Burleson played more than five games in Minnesota during one season, his contract would have to be guaranteed. Minnesota didn't match the offer and Burleson became a Seahawk. In his first year with Seattle, Burleson caught only 18 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns. He needs to increase his production big time if he wants to be featured in the offense in 2007.
