Clinton Portis - Running Back
Clinton Portis came to the Redskins in 2004 when the Broncos traded for Champ Bailey. Portis was a total stud at University of Miami and in Denver, so the Redskins faithful were very excited to get such a high caliber player. He did not live up to expectation during the 2004 season, mainly because his running style wasn't quite in line with Joe Gibbs' power attack. In 2005, Gibbs put in more stretch plays that fit Clinton Portis' style more and he had one of the best running seasons a RB in Washington ever had. After that spectacular 2005, hopes were raised again as everyone thought the sky was the limit for Portis. Then during a pre-season game with Cincinnati, he partially dislocated his shoulder and a few months later broke his right hand which landed him on the injured reserve for the rest of the season. Needless to say, the Redskins never recovered and had a poor season.
