Fred Smoot - Defensive Back
Fred Smoot - Defensive Back Fred Smoot was drafted as a Redskin in 2001 to eventually replace the retiring Darrell Green. Smoot was an absolute asset to the Redskins' secondary for four seasons when he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings. While, Smoot continued to be a pesky defender on the field, his contribution to the Vikings' 'Love Boat' controversy earned him a one game suspension and he was eventually released by Minnesota. That was good news for the Redskins as they re-signed Fred Smoot to help their ailing secondary that gave up too many deep balls in 2006.
