The Tottenham ace was released by Arsenal at the age of eight – but went on to become a goal machine for the team’s bitter North London rivals.
He has scored 101 goals in the Premier League, taking the shortest time to reach the ton-up milestone after Alan Shearer. His latest was the winner against Arsenal.
Irishman Brady spent nine years with Arsenal as a player between 1971 and 1980 and was then hired as director of the Arsenal academy between 1996 and 2014.
“Unfortunately yes. He was chubby and not very athletic, but we got it wrong,” Brady told Corriere della Sera.’Even Tottenham loaned him out to the lower leagues three or four times though. But with his determination he is building a great career. And he deserves it.
“That boy has a character that drives him to always improve,’ added the Irishman. After Messi, Ronaldo and Lewandowski there is him.
“The numbers say it. And he’s only 24 years old.”
